Book your train or bus tickets well in advance. There are 4 fast trains from Bangalore to Birur Junction/Tarikere railway station starting early in the morning from Yeshvantpur and City Railway Stations. Travel time is between 3 ½ to 5 hours. On request, transportation can be arranged to pick up guests from bus or train stations.
Travel by Volvo buses starting from Bangalore to Birur or Tarikere takes about 5 to5 ½ hours. Tickets cost about Rs.450.00 per person. The distance by road is about 250km
Timing
As it can get very cold in the mountains, guests are advised to carry warm winter wear such as sweaters, shawls, caps, socks, a light jacket and a pair of walking shoes.
We advise guests to carry the necessary alcoholic or non alcoholic beverages for their personal consumption due to the remote location of the Home Stay.
Bangalore → Tumkur → Tiptur → Arsikere → Kadur → Birur → Tarikere, at Tarikere turn left at Kodicamp and drive 16 km to Lingadahalli. Immediately after the forest check post turn right, on your left is the Indian Oil Petrol station (The last petrol station), continue on this road for the next 6 kms towards Ballavara .
Bangalore → Hassan → Belur → Chikkamagaluru → kaimara → Lingadahalli. Immediately after the Indian Oil Petrol station turn left and ( The last Petrol station ), continue on this road for the next 6 kms towards Ballavara.
From the Lingadahalli gas station drive 6 km to reach Ballavara post. At the 'T' junction in Ballavara, turn right and drive 4 km towards Colony. There are two colonies referred to as A Colony and B colony, continue on straight past A colony and after about 200 meters you reach B colony, at this junction on your left you will see a temple and a bus stop (Painted green in colour) with a hand operated bore well pump and a flag post in front of the bus stop, take a right turn on to a recently laid Tar road and continue on this road for 2 km to reach a village called Jaipura.
On reaching Jaipura, you will pass a small bridge after which you are in a village called Tanigebyle. Once you pass this bridge, Tanigebyle school is on your right, 200 feet past the school is a newly laid tar road with the office of the Forest Department on your left and an old building with a few shops on your right. Follow this road between these two buildings for a kilometre. On your right you will see a big tall tree besides which is the Homestay.
